Everything your family needs to know before the Kedarnath and Char Dham yatra.
Opening & Closing Dates
Kedarnath temple usually opens on Akshaya Tritiya (late April / early May) and closes on Bhai Dooj (October / November). Exact dates are announced by the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee every year. Badrinath opens a few days later and closes in November.
Yatra Registration Steps
1. Visit registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or use the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app. 2. Register with mobile number and create a profile. 3. Add every traveller with a valid ID (Aadhaar recommended). 4. Choose dham and date, then download the QR yatra pass. 5. Carry the printed or digital pass. We help every family complete this.
Helicopter Guide
Helicopters fly from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi to Kedarnath. Tickets open only on the official IRCTC HeliYatra portal โ beware of fake websites. Flights depend on weather; keep a buffer day. Weight limits apply (about 80 kg per passenger) and baggage is limited to 2 kg.

Warm jacket, thermals, woollen cap and gloves; raincoat or poncho; comfortable trekking shoes; personal medicines; torch; power bank; ID cards and yatra registration; small backpack; water bottle; dry fruits.
Health Tips
Senior citizens should get a medical check-up before travel. Walk slowly and rest often at high altitude. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and smoking. Health check posts are on the trek route. Carry medicines for BP, sugar and altitude sickness after consulting your doctor.
